Bio

Brenda studied life drawing, painting, sculpture and photography at the Arkansas Museum of Art in Little Rock, Arkansas where she lived for twelve years. In 1989 she turned exclusively to watercolor and studied under such noted watercolorists as Milford Zornes, Frank Webb, and Jack Shields.
She is a member of the Southern Watercolor Society, and exhibits her work at Joseph House Gallery in Columbus and Art Works Gallery in Pine Mountain. Her paintings have won awards in local and regional competitions. Commissions include numerous house portraits and recently, portraits of pets. A limited edition of her painting, "Isle of Hope" was produced as a fundraiser for the Isle of Hope Methodist Church in Savannah several years ago. Over two hundred prints were sold in one day; at their Homecoming.
For the last eight years she has taught a summer workshop at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. She developed Watercolor Crash Course!; a four hour workshop for guests who want the painting experience without a big commitment. It is a unique and rigorous method of teaching that introduces her students to color theory, a few simple painting techniques and provides the beginner with the satisfaction of completing a small painting. In 2007, she began to teach this same workshop at Art Works Gallery in Pine Mountain, Auburn University, Columbus State and at the LaGrange Art Museum.
Other, more traditional classes, include Just For Hue; private lessons for serious students and Paint Your Art Out!; an open studio for more advanced students pursuing individual expression.
